Region 2 Arts Council's Arts Resource Expo is April 6, 2019 in Bemidji

The Region 2 Arts Council presents their upcoming Arts Resource Expo scheduled for Saturday, April 6, 2019. The event runs 10am - 4pm and is being held at the Northwest Indian Community Development Center,1819 Bemidji Ave. N, in Bemidji MN. This free event is for Artists, Community Members, Craftspeople, Public Entities, Arts-Interested Organizations, Media. All are invited to attend! Join the fun! Be inspired!

WHAT TO EXPECT:

Learn about arts events and programming, funding opportunities, and ways to engage in arts activities across the region. View artist demos including rosemaling, mitten and moccasin-making, porcupine quill medallions, quilt making, and more. Attend professional development workshops for artists and arts organizations including: how to plan your new art career, crafting an artist statement and resume, learn about self-publishing, learning about MN State Arts Board grant eligibility and application process, and how to attract patrons with vision/hearing loss. For theater lovers, MN Theater Alliance will host a networking session for members and theater enthusiasts.

You can also visit with resources such as Minnesota State Arts Board, Jerome Foundation, Springboard for the Arts, Macrostie Art Center, Bemidji Community Theater, MN Council for Non-Profits, Bagley Area Arts Collaborative, Paul Bunyan Playhouse, 4 Directions Development, Supple Studios, Northern Light Opera Company, and more!

For Artists and Creative People

11:00 am – 12:30 pm

• Plan your New Art Career! – Join artist-jeweler and business owner Monica Hansmeyer, from Seven Sister Design, to explore how you too can use your creative work to plan and finance your way to a new career.

12:45 pm – 2:15pm

• Crafting an Artist Statement and Resumé – Join visual artist Alice Blessing as she shares the ins and outs of developing your work into an artist statement and resumé.

2:30 pm – 4:00 pm

• Notes on Self-Publishing - Follow along as author Wendell Affield guides the writer from manuscript to print and digital book.

For Arts Organizations:

11:00 am – 12:30 pm

• All you ever wanted to know about grant eligibility and the application process – Join Minnesota State Arts Board to learn and ask questions directly from the source.

12:45 pm – 2:15 pm

• Lights, Sound, Action, Roll ‘Em! – Join Craig Dunn from VSA to learn how Captioning, Audio Description, ASL Interpreting and Assistive Listening can attract patrons with vision/hearing loss.

• Minnesota Theater Alliance hosts a Networking meeting for members and theater enthusiasts. Join the conversation!
