Emma Lee LaRoque, age 28, of White Earth, MN, died Monday, March 18, 2019, at her home.

Emma LaRoque was born to Michael and Jean (Holstein) LaRoque on July 27, 1990, in Bemidji, MN. She attended school at Orr Elementary, Tower Middle School, and graduated with the Class of 2008 from Cass Lake-Bena High School. During her years in school, Emma was active in basketball, volleyball, and cheerleading, even being named the Native American Athlete of the year for 2007-08. Emma was proud to be an enrolled member of the White Earth Band of Ojibwe. She went on to further her education at Itasca Community College. In 2009, her oldest son, Shane Jr. was born, and she moved to the White Earth area to make her home. She welcomed her 2nd son, Frederick, in December of 2014. Emma was currently working with the MOM's, MAT & WESA programs as a billing technician for the White Earth Tribe.

Emma was known to always be on the go. She loved traveling, especially with her boys to waterparks. She also enjoyed attending concerts, watching movies, and playing blackjack. Emma had a beautiful smile and incredible sense of humor that shined through despite life's hurdles. She was very fond of her grandparents and loved spending time at their home in Cass Lake, MN. Emma was looked up to by her younger sisters, even though she was known to be a motherly figure and keep them in line. Although gone from this life to soon, Emma will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Emma is survived by her parents, Michael and Jean LaRoque; her grandparents, Beulah & the late Joseph Holstein; two sisters, Mareena (Aaron Spaulding) LaRoque and Mikaela (Bruce Mortenson Jr.) LaRoque; one brother, Jim (Emily) Barto; two nieces and a nephew; two uncles, Ronald LaRoque Sr. and William (Angela) LaRoque; four aunts: Jolyn (Jeffrey Sr.) Donnell, Charlene Brown, Florene LaRoque, and Lori (Peter Sr.) Drift; and numerous cousins. There to meet Emma and her boys were grandma and grandpa Burdell and Noreen (Villebrun) LaRoque, uncle, David LaRoque and several great aunts and uncles.

A Funeral Service, together with her sons, Shane Jr and Frederick, will be held on Monday, March 25, 2019 at 11:00 am at the White Earth Community Center in White Earth, MN. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon on Sunday, March 24, 2019, at the White Earth Community Center and continue until the funeral service. A Prayer Service will begin at 6:00 pm on Sunday evening.
