Section 8A Championship – #1 Cass Lake Bena 56 vs. #1 Ada Borup/West 66

It's been a decade since the last time the Cougars made a trip to the State Boys Basketball tournament. Ada Borup West put their 27-1 record on the line in a rematch of the 2018 Section 8A Title game, and Cass Lake Bena put their 28-1 record on the line in defense of their title from a year ago. Ada Borup West said they wanted to contest the shots taken by Cass Lake Bena, and wanted to keep them in a half court offense, and rebound the basketball. The Cougars did all of that, and the Panthers hot shooters were cold. The Cougars would lead a low scoring first half by just three points, after having five lead changes, and three ties before halftime. Ada Borup West was able to stretch the lead to 13 points in the second half, as Cass Lake Bena found themselves in foul trouble. The cold shooters warmed for the Panthers, as they went on an 8-0 run and cut the lead to just four points with 4:55 to play, but free throws down the stretch would help the Cougars claim victory, and advance to the State Class A Boys Basketball tournament, for the first time since 2009.
