Farm By The Lake's Skeeter Beater Snow Shoe Race held in Bagley

Farm By The Lake's Skeeter Beater Snow Shoe Race held on March 2, 2019 in Bagley, MN proved to be fun for all. Bringing about a new race tradition to the area. Combining the already popular pastime of snow shoeing with a little competition; what better way to enjoy the tons of snow delivered this year.

Racers geared up next to a campfire with great volunteers and port-a-potties at the ready. Volunteers from the Bagley Fire Dept. were well equipped with snowmobile, Ranger Quad-track, and truck. Also with several volunteers from Bagley Sanford Health; racers were in good hands.

The race route was originally to be on Lake Lomond, however with extreme amounts of slush and hazardous conditions, the Clearwater Trailblazer's Snowmobile Club groomed a new track. It covered part of the lakeshore along with intertwining across the city park. This proved to be a good workout up and down hills. In the -4 below weather some racers enjoyed a good sweat by the finish line. Others took it slower, on a brisk walk, enjoying the outdoor air and good company.

Racers enjoyed a delicious chili feed at Fireside Grill and Patio as they awaited their awards. Mosquito trophies hand crafted by artist Al Belleveau, each with its unique artistic flair. T-Shirt mosquito designs were by artist Caleb Campbell, with screens being done by Cool Threads of Bemidji. Racers, spectators and volunteers had time to eat, drink, talk, laugh, and plan for next year's race.

The race was made possible by Community Volunteers and Corporate Sponsorships: Doug & Kathy Rasch, Bagley Fire Dept, FBTL staff & board,

Sanford Health, Bill's Base Camp, BSU Outdoor Program, Fireside Grill and Patio, First National Bank of Bagley, Cool Threads, KB101.1 FM, Clearwater Trailblazers Snowmobile Club, Bagley Rotary Club, True North Health, Bemidji Sports Centre, Choice Therapy, TEAM Industries, and NLFX Professional
