Panthers seeded first in Section 8A East

Cass Lake-Bena received the No. 1 seed for the Minnesota Section 8A East high school boys basketball tournament that gets underway next week at home sites.

The Panthers will begin postseason play at home on Thursday, March 7 against the winner of Monday's play-in game between No. 8 Goodridge/Grygla-Gatzke and No. 9 Lake of the Woods.

In other first-round games on March 7, No. 5 Clearbrook-Gonvick is at No. 4 Fosston, No. 6 Blackduck is at No. 3 Red Lake and No. 7 Northome-Kelliher is at No. 2 Win-E-Mac. All are at 7 p.m.

The playoffs continue at Ralph Engelstad Arena in Thief River Falls with subsection semifinal games at 12 noon and 1:45 p.m. on March 9 and final March 11, followed by the subsection final at 6 p.m. March 11 and the Section 8A championship game at 7 p.m. March 15.
