Melissa M. Littlewind, (Middle Triplet) of St. Michael, ND passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at Fort Totten, ND. She was 37 years old.

Melissa Marie Littlewind was born in Bismarck, ND on February 3, 1982, the middle of triplet girls born to Marsha Littlewind and Kenneth Thompson. Melissa grew up with her family in the St. Michael community of the Spirit Lake Nation. She attended school at Prairie View Elementary School and Central Middle School in Devils Lake, Four Winds High School at Fort Totten and the Pierre Indian Learning Center in South Dakota. She continued her education at the Job Corp in Minot.

Melissa worked for a time at the Spirit Lake Casino and Resort, St. Michael's Wellness Center and also at the Elderly Center in St. Michael. Her most treasured job was as a mother to her children.

Melissa loved the outdoors, doing yard work and going for walks. She enjoyed listening to music and dancing. She loved playing basketball and watching others play the game.

Melissa had a heart of gold and was always there to give a helping hand to anyone in need. She would cook up a storm when family and friends were around. She loved her children and family with all her heart. She missed all her family that had gone to the Spirit World, especially her sisters.

We love you, Melissa, our precious daughter, Mom, grandma, granddaughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend. May you rest in the loving arms of Jesus.

Melissa is survived by her mother Marsha Littlewind; adopted mother Rhonda Greywater; adopted father Rodney Martin; children D'Angelo Littlewind, Jenny Thompson, Michelle Littlewind, Lena Littlewind and Elizabeth Littlewind; grandson Cetan Delorme; grandmas Sheila Thompson, Pauline Greywater, Elizabeth Littleghost, Helena Littleghost and Elaine Robertson; grandpas LeRoy Littleghost, Aloysius Cloud and Nicodemus Woods; sisters Maylene (Jon) TwoHearts, Keanu Martin, Blanche Martin, Kendell (Corey) Thompson, Rendina Lenoir and Sarah Thompson; brothers Christian Martin, Daniel TwoHearts, Jeremy Greywater, Jerry Thompson, Kenneth Greywater, Emery Greywater, Son Littlewind, Kellen Littlewind and Cornelius Kirk; special nieces Makeisha Cavanaugh, Taileisha Cavanaugh, Layla White, Kylie Thompson, Jaleisha Greywater, Jena Greywater and Chloe Cavanaugh; nephews Monroe Littlewind, Jalen Greywater, Alan Greywater, Keshaun Feather, Tyrell Cavanaugh Jr. and Chandler Thompson; adopted sisters Doris Thompson, Candace Denne, Fannette Lovejoy, Kasey Lovejoy, Ivy Lovejoy, Jada Longie, Francine Whiteshield, Clarinda Alex, Annette Lenoir, Shirley Thompson, Roletta Laundreaux, Luella Thompson, Melissa Denne and Mary Azure; adopted brothers Everett "Cowboy" Thompson, Jeff Whiteshield, Randy Denne Jr., Felix Whiteshield, Fabian Whiteshield, Falton Whiteshield, JR Whiteshield and Robert "Kojak" Thompson; aunts Renita (Whalen) Shaw, Sharon (Jesse) Cavanaugh, Marilyn Thompson, Cindy Thompson, Paula Thompson, Clarice (Josie) Lawrence, Andrea (Roger) Ironshield, Valerie (Lawrence) Yankton, Donna Youngman, Paulette (Jerry) LeNoir, Jackie Yankton, Lucille Martin, Patty Martin, Toni Martin, Brenda Poitra, Celeste Herman, Delphine Cavanaugh, Anna McKay, Rosita McKay, Bonnie Owlboy and the Littlewind girls; uncles Calvin Thompson, Todd White, Ambrose Littlewind Sr., Clifford Littlewind, Sylvester Littlewind, Ronnie McKay, Busty McKay, Rocky Littlewind, Alfred Thompson, Michael Graywater Jr. and the Yankton boys. She was preceded in death by her sisters Jenny Thompson, Mary Littlewind, Michelle Littlewind; father Kenneth Thompson; grandparents Pius and Mary Littlewind, Mary Louise and Ambrose Thompson, Maxine Peltier and Arlene Gomez; uncles Alfred Littlewind, Everett "Oscar" White, Raymond Martin, Alan Martin and Leonard Martin; aunts Marla Kirk, Carole Olson, Martha Robertson, Linda Thompson, Doris Thompson, LaVerne Marks, Josella Crow and many other beloved family.

The Wake for Melissa will be held on Monday, March 4, 2019 at St. Michael's Wellness Center beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a time of prayer and remembrance at 7:00 p.m. The procession to St. Michael will leave on Monday at 4:30 p.m. from the City Plaza.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. also at St. Michael's Wellness Center with Father Paul Schuster officiating. Melissa will be laid to rest in St. Michael's Cemetery.

Casket Bearers will be Calvin Thompson, Trevor Cavanaugh, Doris Denne, Everett A. Thompson, Randy Denne Jr., Cowboy Thompson, Son Littlewind and Kellen Littlewind.
