Bonnie (Rogers) Estrada-Martinez

October 04, 1967 - February 24, 2019

Bonnie (Rogers) Estrada- Martinez, age 51, of Mahnomen, MN, died Sunday, February 24, 2019, at Mahnomen Health Center, Mahnomen, MN.

Bonnie, the daughter of Bernard "Scotty" and Gayle (Oppegard) Rogers, was born in Mahnomen, MN, on October 4, 1967. As a child, she moved to the Minneapolis area for a time before returning to Naytahwaush. She attended school and later proudly obtained her GED. Bonnie lived most of her adult years in Minneapolis working a variety of jobs. She spent many years employed by Regions Hospital in medical transport as well as a nurse's aide. She also served as a bartender and worked at the Department of Motor Vehicles for a time. Throughout her life, Bonnie's greatest joy was being a mother. She was blessed with four children, Brandon, John "Sam," Kristin, and Preston "Dubbs," of whom she was very proud. Later in life, Bonnie's love grew as grandchildren entered her life. Nearly six years ago, Bonnie returned to Northern Minnesota to help in the daily life of her grandchildren. She formed an especially close bond with, Krystella and Wyatt but truly loved each of the kids dearly. The relationship they had with "Germa" or "Obby," as they lovingly called her, will never be forgotten. The family will especially remember Bonnie's love of Bingo and everything strawberry. She was known for quick trips to McDonalds for a strawberry shake and or stocking up on strawberry syrup to maker her own treats. She always said what was on her mind and had a strong-willed spirit that could never be tamed. Her loving and determined personality was a gift to all.

Bonnie is survived by three of her children, Brandon Rogers of Minneapolis, MN, John "Sam" Wadena and Kristin Wadena, both of "the ranch" rural Mahnomen; eight grandchildren: Jerold, Krystella, Wyatt, Preston Jr. "Baby Dubbs", Jahden, Wahquine, Ronald, and Weston; two half-brothers, Scott Warren, and Wesley "Pete" Warren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her son, Preston "Dubbs"; her parents, Bernard and Gayle; grandparents, Fred and Stella Oppegard; one sister, Sharon "Angel"; and one brother, Bernard Jr.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 1, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at Samuel Memorial Episcopal Church, Naytahwaush, MN. Visitation will also take place at Samuel Memorial Episcopal Church on Thursday, February 28, 2019, starting at 5:00 p.m.
