Lady Warriors come up short in 62-55 loss to Pine River-Backus in Northwoods Conference Championship

PINE RIVER - The Red Lake Lady Warriors came on strong against Pine River-Backus on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, as they played for the Northwoods Conference Championship in Pine River. But too many missed shots and opportunities allowed Pine River to take the win, 62-55.

Red Lake led by as much as 8 in the first half, only to see Pine River come back and take the lead at the half, 26-25.

Gerika Kingbird and Kelanna McClain led the Lady Warriors wth each 16 points, Kelanna also had 16 rebounds, and Angel McClain hit for 10 points.

Kiley Wind has 20 for Pine River.

Pine River-Backus beat Red Lake on February 15th 84-15 and are now 23-4 on the season, having won their last 17 games in a row. They will open Class A - Section 5 Girls Basketball at home with Browerville/Eagle Valley on Thursday, February 28th.

Red Lake drops to 17-7 on the season and will open their Class A - Section 8 Girls Basketball Tournament against either Blackduck or Grygla on Thursday, February 28 at 7 PM.
