Red Lake Lady Warriors #1 in 8A East will play winner of #9 Grygla-Gatzke H.S./#8 Blackduck H.S. at home on February 28th
RED LAKE – The Section 8A State Tournament Brackets have been released with the Red Lake Lady Warriors getting the #1 seed in 8A East. Stephen-Argyle Central H.S. is the #1 Seed in 8A West. The two teams met early in the season in December 2018 at the NCTC Tournament with Stephen-Argyle getting the win 50-42.
The Lady Warriors will host their first game in the Section Tournament on February 28, 2019 against either Grygla-Gatzke or Blackduck.
That winner will advance and play at the Ralph Engelstad Arena in Thief River Falls, with the Championship game between the 8A East and 8A West to be played at 7 PM on Friday, March 8th.
The Champion of Section 8A then advances to the State Tournament in Minneapolis the following week.
Last year in Section 8A, the Lady Warriors defeated Blackduck, Fosston and Win-E-Mac, but lost the Championship to Stephen-Argyle 56-49.
The prior year, Red Lake won the Section 8A Championship by beating Sacred Heart 67-52 to advance to the State Tournament. It was their first trip to the State Tournament ever.
