David James Boswell

David James Boswell, age 62, passed away at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo on Friday, February 15, 2019.

David was born on November 30, 1956, in Cass Lake, Minnesota, to Wilhelmina Broker. He grew up in White Earth and Minneapolis, and joined the Marines serving in the Vietnam War and receiving an honorable discharge. David earned his GED and returned to Cass Lake to attend Leech Lake Tribal College where he earned his Associates of Arts Degree. He stayed in the Cass Lake area working as a college recruiter for Leech Lake Tribal College, and later in Security for the Palace Bingo and Casino and Northern Lights Casino. David also worked part-time as custodian at the Cass Lake Library.

David was an active member of the American Legion Post 284 in Cass Lake, serving on the Honor Guard and as captain of the Legion pool team. He loved pool and was good at it. He also enjoyed playing softball in his younger years. David loved spending time with his grandchildren, Kyros age 10, and Kyson, age 5, and they loved spending time with him in return.

David was preceded in death by his mother. He will be greatly missed by his son Kyle Johnson of Bagley; grandchildren Kyros and Kyson; sisters Linda, Thelma, Carol and Eleanor; and brother Suni.

A Time of Remembrance will be held for David at the White Earth Community Center in Cass Lake on Friday, February 22 beginning at 2:00 pm, with a Celebration of Life following.
