Paul Leo Smith, Sr., 92, of Red Lake, MN died Monday, February 11, 2019 at the Jourdain Perpich Extended Care Facility.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 pm, Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Mission School Gym in Red Lake, MN with Fr. Jerry Rogers officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

He was born December 26, 1926 in Red Lake, MN the son of Joseph and Margaret (Stand) Smith.

He was raised and educated in Red Lake. He served with the US Army during WWII, he was honorably discharged. He worked for Redby Saw Mill for 10 years and went on to work for the IHS Hospital in Red Lake; retiring after 25 years. During his younger years he enjoyed baseball, softball, bowling, golf, and snowmobiling. After his retirement Paul enjoyed traveling with his wife and son Ira. They also enjoyed spending their winter months in Yuma, AZ.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Melvina Smith; sons, Paul (Norine) Smith and Ira Smith; 5 daughters, Georgia (Kip) Gebeck, Marsha Boldt, Laura (Jim) Maher, Paula Cotter, and Romelle Smith; brothers, Raymond Smith and Joe Smith; 16 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, Alvin, Benny, Allen, Robert and son-in-law, Rollie.
