USDA Funding Available for Very Low Income Homeowners to Make Essential Home Repairs

BEMIDJI, Minn., Feb. 12, 2019– Very-low income households in need of home repairs may qualify for a one percent home improvement loan offered by USDA, Rural Development. A qualified applicant must have an income below the established maximum income limits, demonstrate credit worthiness and be able to show repayment ability.

Homeowners qualify for financing based upon their gross annual household income, repayment ability and credit worthiness. Current household income must fall below the maximum limits listed below:

1 Person -- $24,350

2 Person -- $27,800

3 Person -- $31,300

4 Person -- $34,750

5 Person -- $37,550

Grants may be available for those homeowners 62 and over to remove eligible health and safety issues from their homes.

Examples of home repair projects include: roof replacement, windows, furnace, and improvements to make dwellings accessible for household members with disabilities.
