Trudy was born on October 12, 1950 at Fort Totten, ND the daughter of William Henry and Mary Melinda (Thompson) Herald. She attended the Little Flower Mission School at St. Michael and also the Wahpeton Boarding School but would then make the Spirit Lake Nation her home for the rest of her life.

As a young child, Theresa was diagnosed with a heart condition that carried continued complications through her whole life. However that was not going to stop Theresa from living. In her younger years, Theresa played softball and eventually was known as Trudy "Grand Slam" Brown. She worked for a time at Sioux Manufacturing and most recently had worked at the Spirit Lake Casino and Resort until a continued decline in health forced her to retire.

Theresa met Robert Brown Sr. in the early 1970's and they spent several happy years together. Robert died in 1986.

Theresa always put family at the forefront of her life. She loved every moment she spent with her family. And anyone in need was family to Theresa. She was a foster mother to 6 of her nieces and nephews, but a "Mom" to so many more, helping anyone she could in any way she could. That was the legacy Theresa left to all of us.

Theresa enjoyed many pastimes including BINGO, jigsaw puzzles, Word Find, making Star Quilts and time at the Casino visiting with old friends and making new ones. But first and foremost in the life of Theresa were her children, grandchildren and her other dear family and friends.
