NEW YEARS EVE TRADITIONAL POW-WOW HELD IN RED LAKE - P28

RED LAKE, MN - The annual New Years Eve Traditional Pow Wow was held at the Red Lake Humanities beginning at 6 PM Friday evening.

Although scheduled, there was no Grand Entry, making it even more traditional, everything got underway shortly after 7 PM. There were dance specials including the Potato Dance, Spot Dances, Street Clothes Dance and a Red Dress Special, in memory of Missing/Murdered Indigenous Women.

There was also a Food Contest with prizes for Best Fry bread, Best Wild Game, Best Wings, Best Dessert and Best Fish.

There was also a Moccasin Game played for cash prizes.

Well attended, the event was sponsored by: Red Lake Chemical Health Programs and the Indian and Free Treatment/Prevention Program.
