RED LAKE TRIBAL COUNCIL RESOLUTION AND COMMENT PERIOD FOR ARMY CORPS PERMITTING OF LINE 3

This resolution was passed at the January 8, 2019, Red Lake Tribal Council meeting held in Red Lake, MN. The resolution pertains to the authority of the Army Corps of Engineers to issue water crossing permits to Enbridge for the Line 3 pipeline project over the Red River and the Red Lake River, as well as the Army Corps' responsibility to approve a quality Tribal Cultural Resource survey through the proposed route of the pipeline. The Tribal Council's resolution details Red Lake's interest in its ceded territories, through which the pipeline is proposed to cross, and informs the Army Corps that the Red Lake Nation intends to participate as a cooperating entity along with the Corp through the process of granting, or denying these permits. This most recent resolution is consistent with the Tribal Council's previous resolutions which make clear that the Red Lake Nation opposes the Line 3 project.

The period during which comments will be received by the Army Corps extends through February 21, 2019. The email address where comments may be directed is:
