Warm Springs man sentenced for trying to run down police

A Warm Springs man has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for assaulting two tribal police detectives by trying to run them down with his pickup truck, prosecutors said Friday.

Victor William Smith Jr., 43, also was sentenced on Jan. 15 to three years supervised release and ordered to pay $8,305 in restitution.
