With his family by his side, Tommy passed away at the Thunder Bay Regional Sciences Centre on Sunday January 27, 2019.

Bumpa, as he was known by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was born in Whitefish Bay, ON.

Tommy lived and practiced the traditional way of life, 7 times midewin. He made many close friends through ceremonies. He was a singer with the Whitefish Bay Singers and later went on to form the Hanisha singers. Traveled with his family to many powwows across North America. He was an arena director and an mc at many powwows. His passion, a gift he had was singing traditional songs which his sons will carry as his legacy.

In his younger days, he played hockey with the Whitefish Bay Rangers and enjoyed golf & curling, jigging, square dancing and known as Little Jimmie Dickens in the Whitefish Bay Grand Ole' Opry. He coached the Whitefish Bay Rangers and the High School Winterhawks hockey teams. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, wild rice and blueberry picking. A huge fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Tiger Woods. Bumpas favorite time of the year was Christmas, he loved giving and wrapping presents.

Tommy worked at the Whitefish Bay fur factory in the 70's, he was a fishing guide at Bending Lake, Great Bear, White Birch and Red Indian Lodge. He enjoyed teaching the Native language. He also worked as the cultural coordinator for Ojbiway Tribal Family Services, Anishinaabe Abinoojii Family services and Grand Council Treaty #3.

Tommy will be deeply missed by his loving wife Isobel who he met in 1972 and married for 41 years. He also be greatly missed by numerous friends and colleagues. Children, Julie, Lulu (Stephanie), Yankee (Max),Charlotte (Archie) Tina, Toowaas (Arvel), Travis, & Wendy; grandkids; Misty (Nelson), Kel (Moon), Maverick (Aileen), Tracey (Jon) Chad (Sherry), Terena (Mario), Migizi, Tyrell, Tyrese, Sara, Edward, Ashley, Veronica, Sir Louis, Mats, Jaden, Grey, Jada, Xander, Landon, Cohen, Danien, Dray, Jaryn & Yarina; great grandkids; Tyrick, Mckenzie, Kelsi, Avery, Elliana, Aubree, Sidney, Coby, Alex, Arianna, Ovie, Torrey, Zaydon, Paris and Livia. Brothers, Alfred (Phyllis), Peter (Carla), Joan (Johnson) Meekis, sisters, Lucille (Brian), Eileen, Sandra (Tom) and many close relatives and friends.

Through Anishinabe tradition Tommy adopted Gord Halverson as his son and Danny Geyshik as his brother.

Predeceased by his parents, Maryrose and Alphonse White, brothers, James, Cecil, sister Loretta, nieces; Marilyn, Yvonne, Angie, Lorraine, nephews; Clint, Clifford, Nathan, Chuck and CJ.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital and the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Center for the care provided to Tommy.

Wake Services begin at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at BaiBomBeh Anishinaabe School, Naotkamegwanning First Nation and Traditional Services will begin at 10:00 am on Thursday, January 31, 2019. Traditional services by an Elder from Naicatchewenin and Skaabe' from Couchiching First Nation.

Pallbearers will be Roman Namaypoke, Clarke White, Bruce Crow, Tim Cameron, Ronald Bird, Kirby Paul, JR Medicine, Lavern Kavanaugh, Mario Gauthier and Gary Smith.

Honorary Pallbearers are Tommy Keesic, Vernon Skead, Doug George, Tom Chisel, Bill Petiquan, Sheesash and Care Taker Tom.
