Peterson Joins Two House Committee on Veterans' Affairs Subcommittees

WASHINGTON- During the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Democratic Caucus Organizational Meeting, Congressman Collin C. Peterson (D-Minn.) joined the Subcommittee on Health and the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations.

“I am looking forward to addressing the health needs of our veterans, especially those living in rural areas, and providing oversight over important programs impacting our veterans,” Peterson said.

The Subcommittee on Health holds legislative and investigative jurisdiction over the Veterans Health Administration including medical services, medical support and facilities, and major and minor construction. Membership of this subcommittee will grant Congressman Peterson further access to legislation addressing suicide prevention in our veteran population and mental health services.

The Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations closely monitors overall operations of the Department of Veterans Affairs, and other federal agencies pertaining to veterans. The Subcommittee conducts hearings, site visits, and investigations nationwide.

Membership of the full House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs will also assist Congressman Peterson in advocating for the Bemidji and Montevideo veterans home proposals as their applications make their way to the Department of Veterans Affairs.
