Man charged with assault, rape of girlfriend at downtown Minneapolis apartment

A Minneapolis man faces felony charges after prosecutors say he brutally assaulted and raped his girlfriend in her downtown apartment earlier this month, leaving her clinging to life.

Eric Dufton Anderson, 51, has been in jail since his Jan. 18 arrest, and was later charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct and first-degree assault, both felonies. Bond was set for $500,000. The woman suffered a life-threatening brain injury, police said.
