LEECH LAKE-In December, as a federal shutdown loomed, Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe leaders asked the Bureau of Indian Affairs and Indian Health Service to send as much money as they could muster.
Now, as the shutdown lingers and the $2 million Leech Lake received starts to dwindle, the band is beginning to tighten its belt-and it's not alone.
