BEMIDJI- As Hockey Day Minnesota descends on the community this week, there is no other player who epitomizes Bemidji hockey better than Gary Sargent.
From leading the Bemidji High School boys hockey team to its first ever state tournament appearance, to scoring 83 points in 47 games with Bemidji State and eventually to an eight-year NHL career, Sargent simply is one of the greatest Minnesota-born hockey players ever to lace up the skates.
