JOB TITLE: Family & Consumer Sciences (FACS) Position; Long Term Substitute

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

JOB PURPOSE: The FACS Teacher shall provide direct instruction and facilitate learning for all students.

GENERAL DUTIES: Provide classroom instruction in FACS; work collaboratively with colleagues and support staff

REQUIREMENTS: Current Minnesota Licensure to teach FACS

Develop, lead, and/or teach educational programs which focus on: 1) making healthy choices; 2) nurturing families; 3) embracing life as you age; 4) securing financial stability; 5) promoting healthy homes and communities; 6) consumer sciences programming areas including: food and nutrition; family resource management; human development and family relations; health, safety and wellness; leadership development; clothing and textiles; housing and the environment; home based and micro business.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to effectively use and implement technology in the classroom

• Create an environment of respect and trust

• Commitment to the high school philosophy including: working on and with a team of teachers, working with a co-curricular groups and teams, and supporting other aspects of secondary education

• Ability to differentiate curriculum to a wide range of learners

• Proven skill in forming, building, and maintaining positive relationships

• Evidence of successful experiences with students at a secondary level

• Commitment and evidence of continual improvement

• Willingness to utilize mastery learning through flipped classroom pedagogy
