Gov. Tim Walz spoke as he was interviewed by Minnesota Chamber President Doug Loon during the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce's annual policy kickoff event Wednesday.

Business leaders, worried about Minnesota's workforce shortage, taxes and health care costs, listened carefully Wednesday night as Gov. Tim Walz's administration and lawmakers set out their vision for the state's future.

In his first address to the business community since he was sworn in, Walz, a Democrat, told the crowd at an annual Minnesota Chamber of Commerce event that he wants to strengthen the economies of the state's small towns, which he said are connected to the Twin Cities economy.
