Carl Morris, age 74, of Mahnomen, MN, died Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at Ecumen, Detroit Lakes, MN.

Carl Weldon Morris was born May 19, 1944, in North Carolina the eldest son of David and Mildred (McPhearson) Morris. He grew up in North Carolina where he attended grade school, graduated from high school and furthered his education at NC A&T. As a young man, Carl was married and blessed with three children. He loved to travel and in 1985 he moved to Minneapolis, MN. Carl met Debra Antell in 1988 and they were united in marriage on December 6, 1989. The couple lived in the Twin Cities area for a short time before moving to the White Earth Indian Reservation. They have made their home in Mahnomen for many years where Carl worked in the kitchen at the Shooting Star Casino. Due to his failing health he had recently entered the nursing home in Detroit Lakes, MN.

Carl was the ultimate sports fan, especially when it came to the Dallas Cowboys and the North Carolina Tarheels! He was a wonderful cook and enjoyed making some of his down-home favorites like BBQ ribs, beans and potato salad. He also enjoyed listening to soul music like the Temptations and Smokey Robinson and was known to sing and dance at a moments notice. Carl was also known for having his television on 24/7 and most likely tuned in to CNN or a sports channel. Carl had a wonderful sense of humor and liked to joke around with his nieces and nephews and will never be forgotten.

Carl is survived by his wife of 30 years, Deb, of Mahnomen; son, Andre (Arrovia); daughters, Anita Bostic and Carla Morris; three grandsons: Chandler, Tyler and Brandon; step-daughter, Tasha Lattimore; brothers, Anthony Morris and Myron Morris; sisters: Barbarette Davis, Diane Whidbee and Marvelene Mouson; several nieces and nephews and his cat, Juicy. He was preceded in death by his parents; an aunt and several uncles.

A Visitation and Services will be held Wednesday, December 26, 2018, from 9:00 - 11:00 am at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Mahnomen, MN.
