RELIEF STAFF WOMEN'S ADVOCATE-PART TIME

EQUAY WIIGAMIG WOMENS SHELTER

OPEN: December 19, 2018 CLOSING: January 2, 2019 @ 12:00 p.m.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide support advocacy, crisis intervention, information, access to resources for battered women and their children. Must be willing to work night shift and weekends. Reports to Director, part-time position; salary; DOQ.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

• Provide orientation to all new residents.

• Provide crisis line intervention and supportive listening.

• Provide information and referrals to appropriate resources regarding needs and choices of the battered women.

• Willing/able to provide non-judgmental behavior.

• Be respectful to all women and children.

• Assist in on-going development of resource files and information.

• Provide women and children with scheduled activities including childcare.

• Willing to provide "quiet time" for women by implementing childcare.

• Maintain safe and secure shelter.

• Provide department procedures for women exiting the Shelter.

• Be respectful of coworkers; willing to share knowledge gained to help another learn.

• Abide by confidentiality law at all times.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

• GED/High School Diploma.

• Knowledge and understanding of the effects of domestic abuse on women and children.

• Must never have been convicted of Domestic Violence.

• Must be able to work flexible hours.

• Must be willing to provide on-call rotation.

• Must have valid Minnesota driver's license.
