Vernon May

August 9, 1986 ~ November 28, 2018 (age 32)

Vernon Andrew John May "Giiwedinowinini" (Northern Man), Migizii (Eagle Clan) age 34, of Red Lake, Minnesota, began his journey to the spirit world from Bemidji, Minnesota, on Thursday, November 28, 2018

Vernon was born in Red Lake on August 9, 1984, to Valerie May and Vernon Jones. He attended school in Red Lake and went on to become a jack of all trades with an entrepreneurial spirit. Vernon loved being a father to his seven children: Andrew, Tatum, Tessa, Vernon Jr. (mother Nicole Hart), and Tahzia and Curtis (mother Ashlea Mertens). Vernon was a strong-hearted and very caring man with an infectious humor. His gift as a comedian could tease a chuckle out of anyone that would end in your stomach aching from laughter. He loved birthdays and holidays, especially summer cookouts with family and friends.

Vernon was also a musician, dedicating hours to becoming a freestyle/rapper musician. It was in music that he took his struggles and turned them into successful local performances with Native Boyz and Savage King ENT that many friends were eager to attend.

He was a generous man and helped many people. He was a very spiritual man and loved teaching and giving advice to his people even as he was finding his own way on his journey through life. He was fascinated with the paranormal and UFO's. He was also a passionate collector of antique valuables.

Vernon is welcomed to the spirit world by his grandparents Sally E Neadeau May and Arnold G. May, Aunt Gail May, Brother Curtis Heinonen, Nephew Jason Timbear May, Cousins Timothy Geionety, Sally May-O'Keefe, Larry Smallwood, Delton Buckanaga, and Jeff Bellcourt.

Vernon's passion for life will be forever missed by his mother and father; his seven beautiful children; sisters Sarah May and Roseanne Heinonen, brothers Jacob and Rick May, and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Pallbearers for Vernon are Jaron Smallwood, Jesse Smith, Daryl Barrett, Brandon Neadeau, Charles May, Ron Day, Jacob Hunter, and Rick May. Honorary Pallbearers are Savage King Ent., Joe May, Robert May, Clarence Clark, George Martin, Lee Neadeau, Tony Ganeau, and DJ Neadeau.
