Robert was born on February 24, 1954 in Rice Lake, Minnesota at home to Bert Stevens and Lucy Beaulieu. He graduated from Bagley High School with the class of 1972. Robert joined the United States Marines until he was honorable discharged. He had his first two children, Shane and Jamie Auginaush. Then met the love of his life, Tina Cloud, in 1977 and was still with her until the day he passed. Together they made a life and had three children, Jennifer, Robert II, and Shannon. In 2007, Robert was in a car accident that left him paralyzed. Tina stayed with him throughout everything, good and bad in their lifetime. They had two grandkids that lived with them, Carmelita and Christian Rodriguez, ages 8 and 9 years old. They were special and close to his heart. Robert was diagnosed with cancer in October of 2017.

Robert loved sports and kept up to date with all his favorite teams, especially the Twins. When he was younger, he was known as "Billy Jack", always smiling, joking, and teasing. His playful behavior was contagious. At the same time, though, he was very straight forward and would tell it how it is and not hold back. Robert was very proud of his Indian name that Jennifer and two grandsons help him receive.
