BP: Jones visits Bug-O-Nay-Ge-Shig School

Jim Jones, Jr., an archeologist, a Leech Lake enrollee, and a graduate of Bug-O-Nay-Ge-Shig School, spoke to the Bug-O-Nay-Ge-Shig senior high students on Nov. 12 at the school about his career as Cultural Resource Director for the Minnesota American Indian Council.

In that role he has supervised the repatriation and reburial of hundreds of human remains that had been disturbed, a press release said. He explained the impact of amending the Minnesota Cemetery Act to include all human burials and the effects of the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act of 1990. Earlier in the day, he gave a presentation at the Leech Lake Tribal College.
