Benedict T. Lovejoy, 79 of Fort Totten, ND passed away on Friday, November 9, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Care Center, Devils Lake.

The Wake for Benedict will be held on Thursday, November 15th, 2018 at the Fort Totten Recreation Center beginning at 5:00 p.m. The procession to Fort Totten leave on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. from City Plaza.

Funeral Services for Benedict will be held on Friday, November 16th at 10:00 a.m. also at the Fort Totten Recreation Center with Greg Holy Bull officiating. Benedict will be laid to rest in St. Michael's Cemetery.

Benedict T. Lovejoy of the Spirit Lake Nation was born on April 15, 1939 at St. Michael, ND the son of Alfred and Lucy (Abraham) Lovejoy. Ben went to school at the Catholic School in the St. Michael area. Ben and his wife Della (Stricker) then lived and worked in Fort Totten, ND.

Ben was a well-known Men's Traditional Dancer throughout the United States. Ben competed and traveled to Pow-Wows throughout the United States and Canada. Ben also liked spending time with this family and friends.

Ben was very special to us and we will miss him so very much.

Benedict is survived by his loving family; his only daughter Joni BullBear, Kyle South Dakota; also his grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Della Stricker Lovejoy; brothers, Frank Lovejoy, Gerald "Porky" Lovejoy, Jimmy "Skunk" Lovejoy; parents Alfred and Lucy Lovejoy; nephew Terrance Guy; and great grandson Keelye Owen Delane Lovejoy.

Pallbearers for Ben will be Joseph Jay Lovejoy, Ivan Lovejoy Jr., Charles "Chuck" Lovejoy, Dustin Lovejoy, Jeff WhiteShield, Alvin WhiteShield, Lance Cavanaugh, and Philmore Jackson.

Honorary Bearers will be Ben's traveling pow-wow friends and family, adopted sister Violet Thompson, Auntie Karen "Birdie" Greyeyes, Duane and Elaine Guy, Sharon Brien, Freeman and Lea WhiteShield, Sheila Thompson, Myra Pearson, Bernadine WhiteShield, Mr. and Mrs. Phil St. John and Teresa Henry. If we forgot to name anyone it was not intentional. Ben loved you all.
