RLNC dedicates Classroom 203 in honor and memory of the late Lucy Barrett

On November 14, 2018, the Red Lake Nation College dedicated Classroom 203 in honor and memory of the late Lucy Barrett, who passed away on Monday, July 23, 2018.

After retiring after 41 years at the Red Lake Hospital, and at the age of 68, she went back to school and received an Associate of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts from Red Lake Nation College in 2007. Lucy then went on to earn a BA in Indian Studies from Bemidji State University. After graduating in 2009, she began working as a professor at Red Lake Nation College.

College staff were joined by her children and family as they opened the classroom in her name and took in a short language lesson followed by sharing a meal together.

She will forever be remembered by all who knew her.
