Sustainable Agriculture Workshops
The Minnesota Department of Agriculture along with the Sustainable Farming Association and other partners are working together to bring Dave Pratt and his Ranching for Profit workshops to Minnesota in December. Pratt’s tool box full of simple but effective processes have earned him a reputation for getting to the heart of the problem and finding win-win solutions.
Mr. Pratt’s workshop, “The Three Secrets for Increasing Profit” will teach producers to run their operation as a business instead of a low-paying, physically demanding job. He will teach the difference between economics and finance and explain why economics always comes first. Attendees will leave the workshop understanding the three things that any business can do to increase profit.
A separate workshop, “Cattlemen vs. Grassmen: The Ins and Outs of Cell Grazing” will be held in Staples on December 12. This workshop will explain why successful cattlemen are “grassmen” first. Attendees will learn how to work with, rather than against, nature in their operation. Mr. Pratt will extensively describe the five essential principles of cell grazing and teach attendees how to increase productivity, reduce workload and increase profit.
