Nisqually jail sued over inmate's stroke

November 15, 2018

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — A lawsuit has been filed against the Nisqually tribe's jail by a man who says he was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting, spent 19 days in custody and suffered a stroke.

The Olympian reports the civil rights lawsuit was filed Friday on behalf of Kevin Michael Bell. It seeks unspecified damages, although a previously-filed tort claim in federal court seeks $12 million.
