September 18, 1949 - November 8, 2018

Lynette "Neddy" Sue Tyler whose Ojibwe name is "Awanikwe" which means "Fogwoman", 69, of Red Lake, MN died Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

Traditional services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at the Red Lake Center in Red Lake with spiritual advisor Zac Earley. A wake will begin at 2 pm on Monday and will continue until the time of the service on Wednesday at the Red Lake Center. Interment will be at the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Red Lake under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji.

Neddy was born September 18, 1949 in Red Lake, MN the daughter of Benedict and Mary (Prentice) Lawrence. She was raised and educated in Red Lake, graduating from Red Lake High School. She graduated with an associate degree in early childhood education from Bemidji State University. She worked at Red Lake Gaming, the Red Lake Equay Wiigamig (women's shelter), the Red Lake Headstart program and retired in 2018 from the Red Lake Immersion program.

Neddy was known for her caring and compassionate generosity in cooking for wakes and family gatherings. She was always checking in on family members who were sick or alone. Her family was her life. She took great joy in her grandchildren, they were the lights of her life. She enjoyed playing nickel Keno at the casino (Her ten number Keno design was well known by all regular players as "Neddy's pattern") , working crossword puzzles and watching her favorite TV shows.

She is survived by her sons John Lee Tyler, Jr.,

Ben Tyler,

Marcus (Sabrina) Allen Tyler, Sr., all of Red Lake, MN,

daughters Ceceilia Tyler,

Gloria Tyler,

Trudy (Chris) Jourdain,

Special daughter Amelia "Mimi" Tyler, all of Red Lake, MN,

26 grandchildren 1 great grandchild,

sisters- Judy (Victor) Roy,

Lisa (Earl) Thomas,

Benita Lawrence,

Davette Mason both of Detroit Lake, MN,

brother Francis Lawrence of Red Lake,

and numerous nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Benedict and Mary Lawrence, brothers Harold Lawrence, Gerard "Gary" Lawrence, granddaughter Kaitlyn Marie Tyler, grandson James Anthony Tyler, nephew Brian Lawrence, special son Clarence Sayers, Jr., nephew Anthony Chosa.

Active Casketbearers will be Daunte Tyler, Benicio Tyler, Kahlil Tyler, Alan Lajeunesse III, Garrick Lawrence, Sr., Kyle Thomas, Noah Lawrence, Angelo Lajeunesse, Dillon Belgarde.

Honorary casketbearers will be the Immersion Staff, Sandy Brown, Annette Brown, and Kaydence Brown.
