Woman air-lifted to Fargo after major crash near Bemidji

Wednesday night a Beltrami County Deputy witnessed a two vehicle crash near the junction of Irving Ave and Island View Dr. in Turtle Lake Township.

Deputy Sheriff Ernie Beitel says a 2012 Honda CRV was traveling northbound on Irvine Ave. and turned left into the oncoming lane of a southbound vehicle causing the two vehicles to crash.

The Honda was driven by Laura F. R. Kirk of Bemidji. Beitel says Kirk was not seat belted and was flown from the scene to Sanford Hospital in Fargo.

Beitel says the southbound vehicle, a 1997 Chevrolet Silverado pickup, was driven by Jennifer L. Stately of Red Lake, Minnesota. Stately had two passengers in her vehicle, which included a child. Everyone in Stately's car were taken to Sanford Hospital in Bemidji.

Alcohol use is being investigated as a contributing factor in the crash.
