Ryan Fairbanks Andree

February 11, 1993 - October 25, 2018

On October 25, 2018, Ryan Fairbanks Andree, "Makoons" (which means "Young Bear") of the Bear clan on the Red Lake Nation, dearly loved son, grandson, brother, nephew, uncle, and cousin was called home at the age of 25, in Fargo, ND. Ryan was surrounded by his devastated family when he began his journey.

Traditional Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, November 2, 2018 at the Red Lake Center in Red Lake with Spiritual Leader Charles Grolla officiating. A wake will begin 6:00pm, Thursday, Nov. 1st at the Red Lake Center and will continue until the time of the services on Friday. Interment will be at the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Red Lake under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji.

Ryan was born on February 11, 1993 in Bemidji, Minnesota to Erna Cook-Andree. Along with his mother, Erna, and father, Dale Andree, he was also raised by his grandparents, Rocky and Lorena Cook. Ryan attended St. Philip's Elementary School and Bemidji High School.

Ryan's gift in this world was his way with people. He had a sweet smile and a mischievous sense of humor. He loved hunting, fishing, and ricing with his Grandpa Rocky. He was a snowboarder and also loved to ride the waves in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of California. His ease and warmth endeared him to many and we are grateful for the support shown to him as he fought a long battle with addiction.

Ryan is survived by his parents, Erna Cook-Andree and Dale Andree, and his father, Daniel Kern (Rachel), siblings, Paige (Jack Parker), Benjamin, Hailey (Aaron Eickhorst), Garwin, Jedi, and Elvis. Ryan is also survived by his grandparents, Rocky and Lorena Cook, an Aunt, Holly Macarro (Mark), special cousins Reg and Hudson, and a special nephew, Carson, in addition to many relatives and friends. We will remember him as he was before this battle began - a funny, bright, and loving light to all of us who loved him back.

Pallbearers for Ryan will be Brandon Headbird, Tyler Norby, Matt Carlson, Dan Lofgren, Andy Berube, and Damien Stebe.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Addiction takes so much from its victims and their families. I hope that your honesty will help another family.
