Milton Carvel Kingbird

Milton Carvel Kingbird, 53, of Red Lake, MN died Monday, October 22, 2018 at the Fairview University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis.

Traditional funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at the Ponemah Boys and Girls Club. A wake will begin at 2 pm Thursday Oct 25 and will continue until the time of the services on Saturday at the Boys and Girls Club. Interment will be at the Kingbird Family Burial Grounds in Ponemah under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji.

Milton was born February 28, 1965 in Red Lake, MN the son of Melvin and Edna (Smith) Kingbird, Sr. He was raised and educated in Red Lake and moved with his family to Minneapolis where he graduated from South High School. He married Eliza DeFoe. They moved to Michigan where he helped his father-in-law on a farm. They moved to Arizona where he worked at an engineering firm that fixed small parts. He then moved to Minneapolis where worked as a laborer. He lived in Aberdeen, SD for short while and moved to Ponemah in 1998. He liked going to the casinos where played China Shores and Oceans Wild. He was excellent at arts and crafts and worked with diamond willow. He liked to tinker with things to understand how they worked and make them work better.

He is survived by his daughter Melissa Sue Kingbird of Phoenix, Arizona, Brothers Melvin Charles Kingbird., Jr. of Bemidji, Mitchell Kingbird of Red Lake, Sister- Charlene Kingbird of Red Lake, Stepbrothers- Charles "Chuck" Kingbird, Larry Smith both of Red Lake, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Eliza and sister – Karen J. Kingbird.

Active Casketbearers will be Matthew White, Llewellyn Kingbird, Sr., Adrian Kingbird, Leroy White, Jr., Lorenzo White and Melvin Wilson.
