BEMIDJI JAYCEES ANNOUNCE THE ADDITION OF PAUL BUNYAN'S CHRISTMAS TREE PRESENTED BY PAUL BUNYAN COMMUNICATIONS

The Bemidji Jaycees are excited to announce the single largest investment and addition to the annual First City of Lights Celebration. This year, the Bemidji Jaycees have gone all out to officially declare Bemidji as Christmas City! Through a partnership formed with Paul Bunyan Communications we are proud to debut Paul Bunyan’s Christmas Tree, a brand new LED 56’ tall, 27‘ wide musical/animated mega tree.

This tree is a reusable metal structure that will tower 50’ in the heart of Paul Bunyan Park. The tree is made up of metal frames that connect together to form the shape of the tree with four colors of LED lights mounted over top. A 6’ star will adorn the top of the tree shining with bright white LED lights while the LED tree lights are set to music at the top of each hour for a 10-minute musical montage followed by animations for the remainder of each hour. The tree will twinkle, shimmer, fade, and chase in Red, Green, Pure White, and Blue.

It’s fitting for a tree of this size to be named Paul Bunyan’s Christmas tree, and would not have been possible without Paul Bunyan Communications who stepped up to support this holiday endeavor.

Grants were also secured from the Minnesota Jaycees Foundation to help reduce the cost of this project. Many other partners have come on board to support this project such as the City of Bemidji Parks & Recreation Department, Northwest Minnesota Foundation, Otter Tail Power Company, Home Depot, Meyers Signs, and the Beltrami County Agricultural Association.

Along with Paul Bunyan’s Tree, the First City of Lights will continue to include over 200,000 lights in the trees in Paul Bunyan Park, Library Park, Downtown Bemidji, and trees surrounding the Lake Bemidji’s South Shore Hockey Day Minnesota Village. Returning this year will also be our street light Christmas decorations along Highway 197 and downtown Bemidji.

The First City of Lights is an extremely expensive project to produce each year, and is only possible through the support of its many sponsors! The Bemidji Jaycees encourage everyone to make a contribution to continue growing the First City of Lights!
