PRIMARY FUNCTION

The ABE Program Assistant performs a wide range of tasks to keep the Adult Basic Education (ABE) and Career Development Service (CDS) programs running smoothly. The ABE/CDS programs are co-located at Oshkiimaajitahdah in Redby, MN and at the Red Lake Nation College in Red Lake, MN. Position reports to the Director of Education, full-time w/benefits, salary: DOQ.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Assist in the daily operation of the Adult Basic Education (ABE) classrooms

• Deliver basic skills tutoring at a 6-12th grade level in Math, Science, Social Studies & Reading/Writing

• Communicate with and assist students to keep them on track towards program completion

• Participate in program overview and skills development workshops/presentations with clients

• Keep labs/classrooms fully stocked with supplies, clean and tidy – minimum weekly cleaning

• Participate in the development and delivery of program sessions, packet creation and distribution and student assignments

• Assist with creation, distribution and maintenance of program media and public relations materials: bulletin boards, Facebook and other media posts, community flyers

• Assist with the maintenance and operation of the labs' computer hardware

• Maintain department event and personal task calendars, attend status meetings

• Maintain record/files in tracking systems (Excel, Rite Trax, SID) accurately and in timely manner

• Collaborate with TANF Family Services & 477/GA Case Managers to meet student/staff needs

• Perform initial student sign-up and setup of computer accounts (Khan Academy, MyGED, SID)

• Assist with baseline testing and assessments - TABE, GED Ready, etc.

• Prepare periodic reports on attendance, performance and budget as directed by other ABE staff

• Work closely with other agencies offering services to Oshkiimaajitahdah's supported families

• Attend outside trainings as deemed appropriate by ABE staff

• Work in a TEAM atmosphere to get assistance to clients as needed

• Meet all expectations outlined in the Oshkiimaajitahdah Team Member Expectation List

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

• College Degree required – MN Teaching certification a plus but not required

• Experience in 1-on-1 and computer based tutoring

• Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office applications

• Must have valid Minnesota Driver's License and auto insurance

• Abide by the Red Lake's Zero Tolerance Drug Policy and Confidential Policy

• Employment is contingent upon passing a pre-employment drug test and background check
