YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH PRACTITIONER

ABINOOJIIYAG NOOJIMOO WIGAMIG (CHILDREN'S HEALING CENTER)

Primary Function:

Will provide Children's Therapeutic Services and Supports (CTSS) mental health rehabilitative services to youth with serious mental health diagnosis in a co-occurring mental health and substance use disorder day treatment program. The goals of services are to increase psychiatric stability, promote social competencies, facilitate personal and emotional adjustment, and maintain independent living in the community. If the successful candidate has a Master's Degree in Social Work or Professional Counseling all 8 hours of licensure track supervision per month by a certified mental health professional supervisor will be provided. Reports to the Program Director, full-time position w/benefits, salary; DOQ.

Responsibilities:

• Provide CTSS groups and individual sessions to youth age 12-18 with mental illness who qualify for rehabilitative services

• Engage with youth from an empowerment, strength-based perspective and promote client self-determination and develop trusting, therapeutic relationships with clients.

• Work under the direction of a designated clinical supervisor

• Complete Functional Assessments and treatment plans under supervision of a Mental Health Professional.

• Implement CTSS mental health services, including but not limited to: skills group, individual skills, family skills, and care coordination.

Qualifications:

• Master's Degree or other degree in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields or a Bachelor's degree in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields and a minimum of 2000 hours of documented supervised experience in delivery of clinical services to children with severe emotional disturbance. Candidates without a BA degree will be considered if 6000 hours of documented supervised experience in the delivery of services in the treatment of mental illness to children is met. Internships and practicums involving clinical mental health services may qualify toward hours.

• Proof of valid Minnesota Driver's License and insurance for travel between sites and other business related destination.

• Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
