September 17, 2018

PORT ORCHARD — A teacher at the Northwest Indian College, and formerly of the North Kitsap School District, was charged Thursday with third-degree child molestation after a teen girl accused him of inappropriately touching her.

James Jay Giles, 70, of Poulsbo, allegedly met the teen late last year through her older siblings who were students at the college’s Port Gamble S’Klallam extended campus, according to court documents. Giles is listed on the college’s website as part-time faculty. The college is based on the Lummi Indian Reservation near Bellingham but has six extended campuses in the state.
