COMMUNITY OUTREACH COORDINATOR

RED LAKE NATION URBAN EMBASSY – MPLS

OPEN: September 12, 2018

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Community Outreach Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating programs for Red Lake Nation members and descendants in the Minneapolis area. Outreach Coordinator will report to the Red Lake Nation Urban Embassy-MPLS, Director, full time position with benefits, salary; DOQ.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assess the program requirements of Red Lake Nation members and descendants in the Minneapolis area

• Communicate with Red Lake Nation members and descendants to determine their needs and interests

• Communicate with organizations to determine needs/interests of Red Lake Nation members and descendants

• Access funding and prepare funding proposals

• Ensure a variety of sport, recreation, cultural and other programs are planned and implemented

• Ensure program information is available

• Evaluate the effectiveness of programs

• Schedule activities, facilities and volunteers as required

• Supervise and lead activities for Red Lake Nation members and descendants

• Recruit, train and oversee volunteers

• Encourage local Red Lake Nation members and descendants to participate in local programs

• Monitor the use of equipment and facilities

• Ensure that Red Lake Nation members and descendants are aware of available activities

• Coordinate a community relations campaign to promote program events and gatherings

• Maintain contacts with local and regional organizations for Red Lake Nation members and descendants

• Prepare a plan for weekly and monthly Red Lake Nation members and descendants activities

• Prepare the program sponsored activity budgets

• Prepare financial and program reports

• Record information on and prepare reports concerning Red Lake Nation members and descendant programs, costs, numbers of participants and equipment and facility use

• Requires attendance and participation in Urban Embassies scheduled events and meetings

• Work evening and weekend hours when called upon

• Perform other related duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma/GED

• Ability to deal with the public

• Possess and show proof of a valid driver's license and auto insurance

• Possess computer software experience other then or beyond basic word processing

• Employment contingent upon successfully passing Pre-Employment Drug/Alcohol Test and Background Check
