Jessica Tara Barney (Ornelas), 36, of Bemidji, MN died Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at Sanford Health Hospital in Bemidji.

Jessica was born August 11, 1982 in Bemidji to Frank and Barbara Barney, and was a member of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. She attended school in Remer, MN. As an adult, she worked at Northern Lights Casino in security. Jessica was a very caring and loving person, who was the family keeper, frequently planning family events. She liked crafts, drawing, coloring and beadwork, as well as fashion, shopping and dressing up. She also enjoyed gambling.

Jessica is survived by her son, Ramon Barney; daughters, Augustina Barney, Stephanie Barney, Bianca Barney, Frances Barney; mother, Barbara (Barney) Ornelas; and brother, Derrick Barney, Sr. She was preceded in death by her father, Frank; and sisters, Stephanie Barney and Frances Barney.

A wake will begin Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. at the Mission Center in Cass Lake, Minnesota. It will continue until the time of service on Monday, September 10 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. George Ross will officiate. Interment will be at Boy River Cemetery. Arrangements are being provided by Dennis Funeral Home, Walker, Minnesota.
