Inmate of Beltrami County Jail dies of an unknown medical condition

Bemidji, MN: On Sunday, September 2, 2018 an inmate of the Beltrami County Jail died while in custody from an unknown medical condition. Hardel H. Sherrell, Age 27, of Apple Valley, MN, collapsed and became unresponsive while in the presence of a Corrections Officer and a Medical Technician at approximately 4:58 P.M. Lifesaving efforts including CPR and use of an AED by corrections staff, jail medical staff were immediately initiated. First responders and Ambulance personnel responded as well but were unsuccessful at reviving Sherrell and he died at the facility.

The investigation into the cause of death is being conducted by the Bemidji Police Department and the Beltrami County Coroner’s Office, assisted by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office.
