9th grade boys Pacesetter MIT Recap

The boys qualified back in April for the Mn Invitational Tournament by losing only 1 game in the Regional, which was to Hibbing, who went on to win the Regional, the State and finish 2nd in the Great 5-State Tournament this summer in Minneapolis.

In game 1 we faced Cannon Falls, and played well enough to get the victory and set up a rematch against the Wabasso Rabbits, who if you recall the 1997 historic MN State Tournament game that went down in history as one of the greatest games! This time it was the Warriors who came out on top! This setup a game against Moose Lake/ Willow River and according to the director, what he thought would be the game of the day of the 2 top teams, in his opinion. Red Lake came out on fire to build a nice lead but the boys from ML/WR weren't about to give up and just like a good championship game does, it came down to free throws, we a few of ours late and they hit theirs! After the end of 3 overtimes, we came up just a little short!

In the 4th game, which was played within an hour, we came out hot but ran out of gas, as the other team hit 2 big free throws with 9 seconds left on the clock to secure the Consolation Championship game.

The team was made up of Andre Harrison, Riley Chaboyea, Aaron Chaboyea, Desean Stately, Coach Sam Strong, Dean Peterson, Chaise Rosebear, James Bealieu, Delwyn Holthusen, Coach Chris Jourdain, Jaden Harrison.
