Meredith Roy

October 30, 1997 - August 17, 2018

Meredith Eulalia Roy was born on October 30, 1997 in Fargo, ND. She kept her parents & sister waiting two extra weeks to meet her because she was secretly trying to make her entrance on Halloween, which was her favorite holiday. As a child she was very artistic, creating numerous projects that her family still display & cherish today. Meredith petitioned her parents for several years to get a dog, culminating in a well-researched presentation at family dinner, leading to the addition of her loyal companion for the past 10 years, Linus. She loved children and was the main attraction for all of her younger cousins when they would come to stay, their MerMer. She wanted to be a teacher & hoped one day to become a mother. Meredith was small of stature but had a big heart and was fiercely loyal.

She is dearly loved by her father, Matt Roy; mother and stepfather, Sonja & Chris Poer, all of Fargo, ND; best friend & sister, Claudia Roy (Jesse Louden) of Chicago, IL; step-siblings, Alise Poer (Jake Liebl) of Gary, MN, Josh Poer of Fargo, ND, Nathan Poer (Tori Anderson) of Tucson, AZ, & Samantha Poer of Fargo, ND; nieces and nephew, Sophia, Cash & Charlie; grandparents, Leo & Marjorie Roy of Naytahwaush, MN and Lyle & Margit Bakke of Flom, MN; aunts and uncles: Bonnie Spaeth (Ray Bisek) of Detroit Lakes, MN, Wendy Roy of Naytahwaush, MN, Leo Roy Jr. of Detroit Lakes, MN, Brenda Lundon of Mahnomen, MN, Brian Roy (Jessica Rath) of Cloquet, MN, Connie Preston of Cloquet, MN, Erik & Mindy Bakke of Ulen, MN, Sarah & Matt Kjono of Gary, MN; numerous cousins, other extended family, and close family friends...especially her "Uncle Jamie", "best cousin" Emily Roy, her little shadow, Lilly Linden, and her special goddaughter, Mina Kjono.

She was preceded in death by her great grandparents, David and Christine Roy, Wilfred and Eulalia "Babe" LaFriniere, Leonard and Lorraine Bakke, Arnt & Verna Nysetvold; and her uncles, Patrick Roy & Dean Lundon.

Meredith struggled with depression for many years as she wasn't always able to accept the help she needed. To honor her memory, please don't struggle in silence. We will forever miss everything she was and everything she had the promise to be.

A celebration of her life will be held Friday, August 24 at 2:00 pm in the Anderson Funeral Home, Twin Valley. Visitation will be one hour before services.
