Citizens respond to Creek Freedmen case

OKMULGEE, Oklahoma — The Creek Freedmen lawsuit has sparked debate as to what is the determining factor of Muscogee (Creek) citizenship and whether or not descendants of those listed on the Creek Freedmen rolls of the Dawes Commission have the right to enroll as citizens of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation.

Muscogee (Creek) citizen Joe Anderson said his hope is for citizenship to be kept as it is.
