Yakama Nation declares state of emergency in response to White Swan fire.

WHITE SWAN, Wash. — The Yakama Nation declared a state of emergency in response to a range fire in White Swan that destroyed at least two homes, burned more than 1,000 acres and forced the evacuation of more than 700 residents in the small Lower Valley community Friday evening.

The fire was contained Saturday morning, but mop-up efforts are expected to continue throughout the week, according to a news release from the Yakama

Nation.
