Navajo Nation considers blood quantum in tribal enrollment

WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. — The Health, Education and Human Services Committee considered legislation July 30 to amend Navajo Nation Code to no longer use blood quantum as a requirement for enrollment as a new member of the Navajo Nation.

The proposed legislation is sponsored by Council Delegate Amber Kanazbah Crotty (Beclabito, Cove, Gadi’i’áhi/To’Koi, Red Valley, Tooh Haltsooi, Toadlena/Two Grey Hills, Tsé ałnáoz’t’I’í).
