Authorities mum on man killed by St. Paul police; American Indian group IDs him

Authorities have shared few details more than a day after St. Paul police fatally shot a man in the city’s Summit-University neighborhood Sunday, leaving residents scared and confused and a civil rights group demanding more transparency.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) were at odds Monday about who was responsible for releasing the man’s identity. The medical examiner’s office said the BCA was responsible, while the BCA said the medical examiner’s office would release the name after an autopsy, proper identification and notification of next of kin.
