Amber Alerts Expanded into Indian Country

Amber alerts have now expanded into Indian Country. According to the FBI, nationwide, there are more than 8,000 children listed as missing on tribal lands today.

This was done through a bipartisan bill sponsored by Senators Heidi Heitkamp and John McCain. The goal is to further protect Native children and runaways. The senators say there are serious gaps in current law that have prevented tribes from quickly issuing AMBER Alerts and helping children escape tragedy.
